How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when attempting to perform tasks which would have otherwise required working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the best option for performing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any specialized tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
The machinery has to be parked near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found in the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older models will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could potentially take place.
