Kinds of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
Construction lifts refer to the machinery utilized to enable workers to go to high-up places without constructing any scaffolding. They are used to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common machinery found in factory and warehouse environment also.
Boom lifts can usually provide powered and wheeled bases that can drive itself to the work location and have a platform on them to lift the workers. There are many different types of lifts and each and every one is suited to different kinds of tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Cherry pickers or bucket trucks, are built with a long boom that has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee can stand. Normally, bucket trucks are utilized by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually use these equipment to cut trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly that is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts can travel on roads at normal traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they could efficiently service. This is particularly important for power companies. For instance, many of these companies use cherry pickers to raise employees up so they can reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets should be frequently checked and insulated properly as they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also called "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform which is mounted on an arm that could bend in order to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are used for landscaping projects and are handy for maintenance work on already-completed projects that do not require easy access to the area directly beneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and difficult to clean areas. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
