Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an important device in commercial businesses and industry since the year 1917. During its history the forklift has evolved through different forms, from a basic tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech machinery. Forklift tires have also evolved into particular tires, with different kinds designed to meet particular applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of rubber or solid polyurethane and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for various load capacities. Cushion tires are commonly used in warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They come in two kinds: bias or radial. Depending upon the use, they are available with different tread depths, weight and sidewall protection. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are commonly utilized outdoors on surfaces which are uneven and rough.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the puncture resistance of a solid tire with the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire. They are a good alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are large rubber tires which could either be pneumatic, solid or foam. These types of tires are best for loading and moving heavy items onto trucks or into processing machines. Big flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts normally utilized at automobile recyclers, lumberyards and construction locations.
