The forklift is an essential piece of equipment in most companies that operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. This great equipment, the forklift is constructed of numerous components, like the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Lift trucks usually have various types of attachments as well. The following are a few of the most essential forklift parts.
Engine of the Lift Truck - At the back of the machinery, the lift truck has its power source. The different kinds of engine on the lift truck will need varying power sources. Like for instance, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: CNG gas, LP gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - The truck frame is the base of the lift truck and the most important of all the lift truck components. This forms the core of the equipment. All other lift truck parts are connected to the base, like the wheels, axles, mast overhead guard and counterweight. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks can be part of the frame assembly also.
Counterweight Forklift Components - the counterweight is what enables the machine to be balanced while lifting heavy loads. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the backend of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and can function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Several lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are really numerous parts situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like the steering wheel, operator controls, pedals, seats, levers and switches. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
