JLG Telehandlers Florida

John L. Grove chose to retire after spending many years working side by side with his brother to establish their crane manufacturing company into a global leader. His wife Cora as well as John celebrated their retirement by setting out on a cross-country trip using their recreational vehicle. After that trip, JLG Industries, Inc. emerged and became the worldwide leading producer of specialized material handling machines and mobile aerial work platforms.

John spent much of the time in the R.V. trip talking to prior business associates who the Groves were visiting on their journey. Sadly, while they visited the Hoover Dam, 2 employees were accidentally electrocuted on scaffolding. During subsequent conversations, John discovered a big untapped market for a kind of equipment that can quickly and safely lift people into the air to be able to carry out construction and maintenance functions.

John decided to take action when John and his wife returned from the trip. He started a partnership with two close friends when they bought a small metal manufacturing company in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. In 1970, with an initial group of 20 employees, the trio built and sold the very first JLG aerial work platform. Numerous components of the basic design elements of that original machinery are still being incorporated into the current equipment

Ever since John L. Grove first drove back into town from his cross-country journey, the company has come a really long way.
